Terms of Service

These are the rules for using shroomlabs.io, its API, and Grow Coach. By making an account or using the site, you agree to them. They're short on purpose. If something's unclear, ask us.

What Shroom Labs is

Shroom Labs is a library of mushroom grow Profiles, plus a cloud service for chambers running OpenShrooly, free open source software for Shrooly hardware. Shroom Labs is not Shrooly, the company that made the hardware and has since gone out of business, and isn't connected to it.

It's a beta

Shroom Labs is in beta. Features may change, break, or go away. The site, the firmware, and Grow Coach are provided as is, with no warranty of any kind, including any warranty that they'll work for your purpose or run without errors.

Your account

• You need to be 18 or older.
• Use a real email you can get to, and keep your sign-in safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
• One person per account.

Installing on your Shrooly is at your own risk

Installing OpenShrooly replaces the software on your Shrooly. We only publish signed releases and we give you the steps to go back, but an install can still fail. It can leave a chamber that won't start, needs a manual fix, or stops working for good. Whatever warranty your Shrooly had may not cover it after. You choose to install it, and you take that risk. We aren't responsible for damage to your hardware, your home, or your grow from installing or running the software.

Grow Coach and Autopilot

• Price. Grow Coach, which includes Autopilot, costs $4.99 a month or $49 a year, plus any tax. Payment is handled by Stripe.
• It renews on its own. Your plan renews at the end of each month or year and charges the card on file until you cancel. If the price changes, we'll email you before it applies to your next renewal.
• Cancel any time. Go to Account, Manage billing. When you cancel, the plan stops renewing and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Refunds. If you ask within 14 days of a charge, we refund that charge in full, no questions asked. After 14 days we don't refund that charge, in full or in part. To ask, use the contact form. If we shut Grow Coach down or close your account without you breaking these terms, we refund the unused part of your plan.
• What it does. Autopilot makes small changes to your chamber's settings, inside limits, based on its readings. It can be wrong. Check on your grow, and switch Autopilot back to suggestions only if it isn't helping. The controls on your chamber always win, and your chamber keeps running on your own Wi-Fi if our service is down.

If we sell a single Profile as a one time purchase, the same 14 day refund rule applies.

Growing, and no medical or legal advice

Profiles and Grow Coach are starting points, not guarantees. Grows fail sometimes, even with perfect settings. Follow food safety basics, and don't eat anything you can't identify. Nothing on Shroom Labs is medical, health, nutrition, or legal advice. Talk to a doctor or a lawyer for that.

Off-menu Profiles are reference conditions for research and education only. Psilocybin mushrooms are illegal to grow, have, or sell in most places, including under US federal law. You are responsible for following the law where you live. Shroom Labs doesn't sell spores, cultures, or psilocybin products, and paid plans don't cover Off-menu Profiles.

What you post

You own the Profiles, reports, and photos you post. You let us store them, show them on Shroom Labs, and let other growers use them in their chambers. Only post things you have the right to share. We review new Profiles and photos and can take anything down.

Acceptable use

Don't use Shroom Labs to:

• break the law, or sell or promote anything illegal;
• spam, harass, or threaten anyone;
• post anything you don't have the right to post, or anything hateful or sexual;
• get into accounts or chambers that aren't yours;
• overload the service, get around limits or payment, or upload malware.

We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Open source

OpenShrooly and the Shroom Labs code are open source under the MIT License. That license covers the code. These terms cover your use of shroomlabs.io and its services.

Ending things

You can delete your account any time in Account, Your data. Cancel any Grow Coach plan first. We can close accounts that break these terms. Your chamber keeps running on your own Wi-Fi either way.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Shroom Labs isn't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, like lost crops, damaged hardware, or lost data. Our total liability to you for anything is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Washington.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before it takes effect and update the date at the top.
